How Play πŸ€Έβ€β™‚οΈ Builds Self-Esteem

We're rounding into the last month of school and couldn't be happier. I think kids and parents alike, by this time of the year, are pretty much over the morning routine (I know I am πŸ™ˆ) and ready for after school activities to end and head into the low programming time of year. 🀸
At mini mioche, we'reΒ hugeΒ proponents of play.Β We talk a lot about the benefits of play at the office, and we make sure our clothes are designed first and foremost to serve children at play. This meansΒ no flourishes or flounces that constrain, breathable, loose fits and sustainable fabrics that allow forΒ easy airflow to prevent overheating, and making sure children ofΒ both genders have clothing options that are equally ready for fun, comfortable motion.
Why does play matter?Β Because it's how our kids learn and, ultimately, how they create joy in this world.Β Play encourages curiosity, problem-solving, and persistence are found all-day-every-day in our children's play worlds. Trying to figure out how to get to the top of the play structure? βœ… Making that clay panda? βœ…βœ… Getting into a costume and creating an imaginary world? βœ…βœ…βœ…
We're Montessori/Waldorf type parents over here, as you can probably tell by the design of our beautiful basics. We love an independent play and always encourage parents to help their littles take control of their own games. But this doesn't mean leaving them to their own devices!Β The way we engage with them is a huge piece of helping them to learn.
So, as we head into the best unstructured time of year, invite your little peeps for a play session. Get down on the ground with them. Put on your wings or your wig your dish-cloth-slash-superhero-cape. Don't do the game for them, but be there beside the as they figure out how to create it.Β Hold their hand as they work through frustration and watch with awe as they get to the other side of the problem, proud as can be and ready to tackle the next challenge.
PS:Β Shorts! Are! Back! 🩳 All of your favourites are fully restocked (and they'reΒ flyingΒ so we've got even more coming next month)! OurΒ Cloud Skinny SweatsΒ also restocked this week in a dozen shades for summer (the perfect πŸ•οΈ camp pants, if we do say so ourselves). Our designed-for-playΒ dressesΒ have also hit the site in even more colours 🌈 for summer and pair perfectly with ourΒ 100% GOTS-certified cotton bike shortsΒ (ditch the poly-blend for perfect play).
