π§βπ€βπ§ Teaching Kids Empathy
I've got a short note coming today because this last week was our first ever trade show at ABC Kids in Las Vegas (what do you think about our entirely plastic-free booth?), and after taking a red eye back on Friday to get back to my littles as soon as possible, I am still very (very!) tired! π΄ Our mighty team had a blast introducing the brand to the industry and got incredibly enthusiastic feedback on our ethically made, sustainable basics.
Did you know that there are apparently few-to-no brands selling North American made baby and kids clothes?Β π¨π¦ We actually didn't, but we sure did hear that a lot. Apparently a lot of you are asking for that at your local boutiques so shop owners were really excited to discover us. We couldn't have been more pleased!
There are a lot of countries in which to produce clothing ethically.Β As long as working conditions are safe and workers are paid a fair wage, the brands you shop are doing right by the world.Β π€ We've been manufacturing in North America for sixteen years. We knit our yarn right here in Toronto. We custom dye our fabrics to create our unique palette of neutrals and neutral-adjacent shades in Montreal. We cut and sew the product in Toronto, before shipping it to you.
We enthusiastically support every brand that works to source ethical production for its products. It can be hard to find, but it's worth the hunt.Β The cost, no doubt, is higher - but the ensuring we tread lightly on this place we call home and the people who live here really does matter.Β π (We absolutely understand that these products aren't currently accessible to all families - but if they're in range, we'd encourage all of you to take the extra steps to find 'em. In addition to being a good choice,Β sharing these values with our kids can be a beautiful part of teaching them about compassion, empathy, and justice.)Β
