Why We Don't Want to πŸ‘£ Leave Our Mark

I'm writing this on a sunny Saturday morning and I couldn't be happier for it. Winter really hits hard over here - the lack of sunshine does a number on everybody's well being, so while we're stocking up on vitamin D, it's not quite the same as being outside under a sunshiney blue sky.
Β
I'm a huge fan of the outdoors.Β I grew up in the beautiful country of Canada's east coast, and spent much of my childhood in the woods - building forts, picking berries, making magazines in my treehouse, and getting into the exact kind of trouble I want my kids getting into. While I was eternally convinced that a bear was going to pop out from behind a tree (flashback to my early years in Alberta), I was nonetheless thrilled to lay under my favourite bouncy tree for hours, imagining stories about the images floating past in the sky.
Β
When I think about my kids, I want the same for them. And I want the same for their kids.Β But gifting that means we need to be doing the work today to make sure it's still usable for them.
Β
I know we all talk about it, and we all do our recycling, and we all put out our compost. And I know that none of us are perfect and none of us can be expected to get everything right. But I also know thatΒ when we have the power to make the big choices that come into our lives, it's our responsibility to take the opportunityΒ and talk about it all day long. So here goes!
Β
At mini mioche, we started our path to planet-positive through ourΒ Climate Neutral CertificationΒ in August of 2023, days after I bought the business. It was incredibly important to me that we start on the right foot - offsetting the prior year's climate impact with a commitment to do it annually going forward. But more than that -Β I wanted to give you the power to make this important choice.Β To shop for your kids with a certified promise that keeping them dressed and cozy and ready for the world won't harm their playground.
Β
If this stuff matters to you, I'd highly encourage you to seek out brands like ours, who commit to either Climate Neutral Certification or B Corp Certification or 1% for the Planet Certification. These are companies that go beyond the greenwash - which is distressingly easy given the lack of regulation, and if you don't see certifications, you can probably assume it's not particularly legit - and are held to a standard of environmental and social credibility that you can trust.

You vote with your dollars every time you press the checkout button. I hope we all move closer and closer to voting that doesn't leave its mark.

Hope you have a little time to share your ideas and thoughts - because I really look forward to your notes every week!

PS: We're fully stocked in your favourite spring styles for your mini, so get the things you need when you need them. I'm definitely getting ahead with the Mod Bermuda Shorts and sets of Cozy Hoodie and Cozy Skinny Sweats in Thyme (my all time favourite shade). ✌️
