Animal Welfare Policy
mini mioche does not use animal-derived materials. Every piece in our line is made from plant-based or recycled sources. The vast majority is 100% GOTS-certified organic cotton, the same fabric we have built the brand on since 2008.
What we don’t use
At this time, mini mioche does not use any of the following materials, in any product, anywhere in our line:
- Leather
- Shearling
- Cashmere
- Alpaca
- Mohair
- Angora
- Silk
- Down or feathers
- Fur, real or processed
- Exotic animal skins (snake, crocodile, ostrich, etc.)
As of 2026, these are excluded by policy. We have not used them, and we do not plan to again without notice.
What we do use
- 100% GOTS-certified organic cotton for the majority of our line
- 100% OCS-certified organic cotton
- 100% organic cotton labels
- Plant-based buttons
- Spandex (small percentages, only in styles that absolutely require them for usage purposes - we are working on sourcing sustainable solutions)
If we discover an animal-derived component anywhere in our supply chain, we will document it on this page and work toward a plant-based alternative.
A note on what may change
We design and manufacture for all four seasons, and over time, our line evolves. At some point we may introduce a small number of mulesing-free wool pieces, most likely cold-weather accessories like toques. Our preference is to extend the line using certified organic cotton-based alternatives whenever they perform; mulesing-free wool would be a secondary consideration.
If we do introduce any animal-derived material
- If we are to use wool products, we would exclusively be sourcing mulesing-free wool from farms with a Regenerative Certification and Animal Welfare Approved Certification by A Greener World, or other equivalent certified sustainable partners.
- We will update this page before the product goes live, so the public position always matches what is in the line.
- We will name the supplier and the certification on this page.
We would rather grow the line slowly with materials we can stand behind than add inputs we cannot certify. That hasn’t changed since we launched.
Continuous improvement
This policy is not static. We commit to:
- Reviewing our materials list every season and confirming no unaccounted animal-derived inputs have entered the supply chain at any stage (fabric, thread, trim, label, packaging).
- Publishing any change to this page within 30 days of discovery, and before any new animal-derived input goes to market.
- Answering specific questions about any item by email at hi@minimioche.com.
Why we publish this
Most brands talk about sustainability without specifying what that means. We try to do the opposite. Our materials, certifications, and standards live in plain sight, including this page. If something changes, we change this page.
If you spot a gap, tell us. We would rather know.
